When Love Teaches What Words Cannot
💜💚There is nothing quite like watching your child give their heart away. 💜💚
Time. Energy. Love. Support. Pieces of themselves that you know took years to build.
And as a mother, you stand there—sometimes quietly, sometimes with everything in you wanting to intervene, knowing this is a lesson they have to learn on their own.
This week, I found myself reflecting on something hard but honest:
Not everyone has the capacity to love, give, or show up the way we do.
That truth? It stings, because when you’ve raised your daughter to be strong, self-aware, nurturing, and intentional… you expect the world to meet her somewhere close to that level. The reality is, some people are still figuring themselves out. Some people are navigating identity, confusion, emotional gaps, or wounds that have nothing to do with your child, but still affect her deeply.
Here’s the part we don’t talk about enough: Your daughter is not responsible for filling in the gaps someone else’s upbringing left behind.
She is not here to fix.
She is not here to prove her worth through overgiving.
She is not here to pour endlessly into someone who cannot pour back.
That doesn’t make her weak. It means she loved fully, but love without reciprocity becomes depletion. As mothers, we have to sit in that uncomfortable space, watching them realize:
You can give your all and still lose
You can love deeply and still be misunderstood
You can show up consistently and still not be chosen
And none of that means there is anything wrong with you, sometimes, it simply means…
They didn’t have the capacity.
Not the maturity.
Not the clarity.
Not the readiness.
And when two people come from completely different emotional worlds… sometimes love isn’t enough to bridge that gap.
That’s not failure. That’s alignment revealing itself. So this week, I’m not just comforting my daughter, I’m reminding her of who she is.
She is strong. She is grounded. She is whole, and anyone who cannot meet her where she stands… Is simply not meant to walk beside her in this season.
And that, my love, is not a loss.
💜💚 That is protection. 💜💚
